Summary/Abstract: The main subject of this study is the difference between the perception of the countries’ Communist parties on the part of the inhabitants of Czechoslovakia and Romania, and the linked disparate courses and results of their nationalisation of property and collectivisation. It is chiefly concerned with the difference in the strength of the Communist parties, which was far greater in the case of Czechoslovakia, as well as the importance and maturity of agriculture; these were factors that influenced the process of collectivisation in both countries.
