Summary/Abstract: The article analyses and interprets the significance of Filippo-Tommaso Marinetti’s arrival in Poland on March 8, 1933 and his sojourn in this country until March 14. His visit proves to have been politically, rather than culturally, oriented. When interviewed by Polish columnists, the Italian writer, missed no opportunity to pay homage to fascism, owing to which futurism had become an eulogist of the Italian race and patriotism. Thus, the Polish right wing appreciated the importance of futurism and bid Marinetti an extremely solemn welcome wherever he appeared. This resulted in a smear campaign against Tytus Czyżewski and Tadeusz Peiper, the eldest leaders of Polish avant-garde, who accused the conservatives of a biased favouring of fascism, Western tastes, and inability to fairly evaluate the native Polish futurism.
