Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to gain a deeper understanding of the use of information and decision-making on government issues and public policy, the implications of improper e-government development, the impact of socio-economic, political, and technological factors on e-government development, and the lack of openness of government information. In this paper I am particularly interested in exploring the structuration and control-oriented nature of government information dissemination, technological infrastructure as a key element for open government, the influence of the digital divide on citizens’ attitudes concerning e-government, and citizen engagement through technology-enhanced platforms.
