Summary/Abstract: Extant CE research has focused on top management efforts to spur new venture creation and innovative strategic renewal activity within existing organizations via organizational characteristics. In this paper, constructs from the creativity and leader-member exchange literatures are utilized to extend previous research by identifying a finer-grained model of factors that influence potential entrepreneurs in the corporate context to engage in oft-times risky and innovative activities in search of new products, processes and technologies. Our central contention is that the CE field has much to gain in extending theory beyond a structural perspective to include these individuals and dyadic constructs.
