Modeling the Influence of Revealed Comparative Advantage on Polish Intra-industry Trade

Summary/Abstract: The paper investigates the relationship between all types of Polish intra-industry trade and the revealed comparative advantage (RCA) of Polish exports. To this end, the econometric model was proposed to describe this relationship according to Vernon’s Product Cycle Theory. Due to the panel nature of data, the fixed effect estimator (FE) and the random effect estimator (RE) were used to estimate the parameters of the model, which in turn made it possible to analyse the intensity of intra-industry trade by commodity groups according to SITC classification. Eurostat data on Polish export and import in the years 2000–2009 were used in the research.
