Summary/Abstract: In order to increase the effectiveness and sustainability of the cohesion policy in 2007-2013, four joint initiatives have been developed. Two of them, JEREMIE and JESSICA, engaged in the promotion of financial engineering instruments, and the other two, JASPERS and JASMINE, function as instruments of support. The discussion is focused mainly on presenting three of the four of the instruments in order to identify and assess their impact on the cohesion policy, as well as the possibility of acceleration of economic regions.
