The Sudeten Question: Deport the monument?

Summary/Abstract: Whilst trying to come to terms with the mores and customs of a capitalist economy is a relatively new moral conundrum for Czechs, the expulsion of the Sudeten Germans after World War II is an ethical dilemma that they have been grappling with for generations. This thorny issue has been in the news again recently following the announce¬ment of proposals to build a memorial to those who were expelled from the former German territories. We have some provocative articles on the issue, including one by Bedřich Utitz who - as a Czech journalist living in Germany for many years - is bound to have an interesting take on the subject.
