Summary/Abstract: The review discusses a monograph by Hanna Kirchner, the greatest Zofia Nałkowska’s life and work expert, which intends to regain Nałkowska her due place in modern literary history. This purpose proved successful. In order to reach a wider audience, the researcher perfectly takes advantage of essayistic-novelist methods of discourse and shows that Nałkowska’s biography and creativity form a unity. The former and the latter are linked by the interpretation of her Diaries according to which it is proved that Nałkowska’s cognitive, aesthetic and ethical imperative was a fight, marked with tragicaleness, for record of elapsing world brimming with understanding.
