Summary/Abstract: In this paper we analyse the electoral process in communist Romania. The elections held during the communist regimes represent a topic that was given little attention in terms of analysis, as it was considered by many researchers an insignificant phenomenon. Like in other communist countries, Romanian studies referring to elections during the Communist Regime are extremely few, which proves the peripheral place this subject fills among the interests of researchers analyzing this period of time. Following on these observations, we analyzed the elections which took place during the Nicolae Ceauşescu regime. The first part of this research was dedicated to the election laws adopted in the previously-mentioned period, while the second part of this research was focusing on the elections organized between 1975 and 1985 - the way candidates were elected, the unfolding of the election campaign, the day of the elections and the election results. Elections in the communist period played an important role for the communist propaganda. This is a time when propaganda, in all its forms, reaches moments of maximum intensity, both at the central and at the local levels.
