Analysis of the banking system in the context of the economic growth in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The basic component of any financial system in today’s market economy is the banking sector. Its impact on the real sphere entities, in particular through the process of money creation, stimulates or restricts the economic growth. The article assesses the level of development of the Polish banking system by analyzing the relationship of this system assets to GDP. Moreover, an econometric model and the results of its estimation for the annual attempt from the years 1997-2009, which was an attempt to identify the relationship between the banking system and economic growth, are presented.
