Summary/Abstract: An analysis of Thorstein Veblen’s book The Theory of the Leisure Class that was published in 1899 and in which the author – the founder of the New School for Social Research – criticizes the attitude of the “rich” towards their wealth. While Veblen structures his theory on anthropological references, Blecher shows how his theory applies to present society, Veblen’s “attitude” having its roots in human nature itself.
