Summary/Abstract: The paper sets out the project to protect the Mehmed Pasha Kukavica mosque and medresa in Foča, funded by the US government through the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation, 2005. The Mehmed Pasha Kukavica mosque was dynamited in 1992, but not completely destroyed. In 2002 the dome and much of the walls collapsed. The project was designed for: 1. the protection of the monument, through activities classified into a number of thematic groups: a. the collection and digitalization of extant documentation, b. preparatory and investigative works relating to the protection of the property, c. technical and photographic surveys of the remains of the property; 2. raising awareness of the importance of the heritage through the campaign “My Bosnia and Herzegovina – My Heritage.”
