Summary/Abstract: The article presents details from the life of Thomas Bomelius, a transylvanian-saxon intellectual from the 16th century. In 1556, he published the first historical printed work in Transylvania, wrote a lawbook and contributed to the theological discussions of his time. The article is based on published and unpublished sources from Brasov (Kronstadt), Hermannstadt (Sibiu) and Budapest.
