Summary/Abstract: The few Transylvanian physicians that had a foreign education during the 17th century were employed by towns or the Transylvanian prince. In this article are presented two exceptions: Paul Francisci from Brasov (Kronstadt) and Elias Facetius remained in Germany and founded families there. The motives for their emigration are not clear, but for sure the lack of adequate positions as physicians as well as the instable situation in Transylvania can be identified as reasons.
