Summary/Abstract: Genocide in Srebrenica, committed by Serbian forces in July of 1995, aside from military and political, undoubtedly had the media-propagandist dimension. The Serbs had committed the biggest crime against humanity, in the midst of Europe in the second half of the 20th century in absolute media silence. During the time of the horrendous slaughter of almost eight thousand people, neither local nor world media reported any news about this criminal act. Therefore, it can be concluded that the genocide in Srebrenica has been committed in complete media silence. Even with heavy presence of media on the world’s stage, with the media globalization, and with engaged journalism, the Serbs managed to commit this horrible crime far away from TV video cameras, radio microphones and newspaper photo cameras. The Serbs achieved great success in hiding this crime, by using the propagandist method of “media curtain”. This method implied a total informational blockade of Srebrenica, simply by preventing foreign journalist teams to enter this so called “protected zone” of UN, and by deceiving both local and world public saying that this enclave honors international humanitarian law and such. In order to produce such a falsified picture of the happenings in Srebrenica in July of 1995, only the chosen Serbian journalists and most of Serbian media had been employed. Their impact in the preparation and realization of genocide had not been any lesser than the impact of Mladić’s criminal acts. Aggressor media had not, in fact, been shooting at unprotected civilians, but with propagandist affirmation of this act, they had encouraged thousands of murderers. With direct propagandist stimulation of this crime, numerous Serbian journalists have, in fact, in Srebrenica become criminals themselves. Serbian media therefore, took active part in genocide, by firstly keeping quiet about massive killings of Bosniacks in Srebrenica and then by illustrating this crime to the Serbian public as a humane act, committed simply in the interest of the so called “future Serbian generations”.
