Summary/Abstract: The article poses the problem of examples of successful private life presented in the Bulgarian press. The analysis is focused on two editions: the tabloid weekly Weekend and the weekly Capital supplement -Capital light. Taking into account the differences unquestionably existing between these two editions, the article discovers in both cases a complete lack of social commitment. In both cases Bulgarian society – as a normative context or as a cultural context – is rejected or ignored. While the „tabloid press“ is attracted by popular figures that live beyond all social norms and rules, the „elite press“ is enclosed in a world of various lifestyles shared by young professionals, from which Bulgarian society and its problems is equally excluded.
