Summary/Abstract: Lifelong learning and its importance at the labor market of the European Union has been recognized by the adoption of the Bologna Declaration (1999). We should also mention the EU Commission Report (2001), which talks about building “lifelong learning in EHEA”, as an important event in the development of lifelong learning. The establishment and integration of lifelong learning at universities is one of the main objectives stated in the Bologna Declaration. The Framework Law on Higher Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina specifically defines the way in which higher education should be organized and provides legal guidance for the organization of "lifelong learning". The University of Sarajevo, considering the number of employed teachers (1,302) and the number of students (total 40,300), represents an enormous potential. In that sense, the University of Sarajevo fulfills the basic requirements for creating and implementing LLL structures. Considering the structure of the university and its area of expertise (23 members with 43 scientific areas), the integrated university can organize all aspects of informal education through the development and implementation of educational programs, courses, seminars and workshops. It is important to emphasize that the integrated university should start with the implementation of lifelong learning programs, keeping in mind that the number of students is expected to drop after 2015, while the number of persons aged 50 – 70, who are still active and able to acquire new knowledge, is expected to rise. The importance of the synergetic effect of LLL organized at the university as its fundamental integrative function should also be kept in mind. During the implementation of the Bologna process, the School of Economics and Business in Sarajevo has recognized the need for continuing expert training through LLL programs. Programs have been selected to meet the requirements of the economic environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
