Summary/Abstract: Quality assurance in higher education has become a daily issue at the European universities; an unquestionable main concept and, above all, a political goal within the Bologna process which directly influences and changes the balance of power at the universities. Institutions of higher education are primarily responsible for the quality of services they provide, as well as for quality assurance. Introduction of the unified QA standards within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) will enable control of the higher education institutions through unified criteria, as well as readable and comparable degrees and mobility of students through formation of a unified European educational space as a recognizable characteristic of Europe. The goal of quality system development at the universities is improvement of quality of the students' experience at the faculty – from applying and enrolling to the faculty, through lectures, examinations and diploma acquirement, to the process of employment and lifelong learning. Quality system is an inseparable part of the international and European norms (standards) of quality. Quality assurance is the basic element of higher education reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the main precondition of creation of the European higher education space. Each system of quality assurance is a mirror reflection of the national higher education system and the local social frame in which the higher education institutions are functioning. Achievement of this goal means pleasure of all participants in the system - students, teachers, accompanying administration and the community - and that is precondition of an efficient fitting into the global currents of the contemporary European higher education.
