Summary/Abstract: The international master study course in forest policy and economics, implemented within the FOPER project and financed by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represents a unique study program in many ways. The whole teaching process is conducted in English, which is a rarity not only in Bosnia-Herzegovina, but in the wider region as well. Although classes are held at the Faculties of Forestry in Sarajevo and Belgrade, the master study course is, in fact, a partner project of the Forestry Faculties in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania and Macedonia making it a distinctive course in the Western Balkans region. The fact that a program including both forest policy and economics does not exist in Europe significantly contributes to its attractiveness and competitiveness and as a result university teachers and students from different countries are involved in the teaching process. In order to monitor the realization of the FOPER project, the financer has chosen an independent institution to evaluate the quality of the implementation of all the project’s components, including the master program in forest policy and economics. The model of teaching process quality assessment developed by the University of Helsinki has been applied. It focuses on objectives, planning and management of the teaching process and human resources, teaching methods, criteria and assessment methods, as well as feedback from the labour market. This paper presents experiences in applying an international model of assessment of teaching process quality in the field of higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is characterized by a large number of higher education institutions and the lack of common teaching quality criteria at the national level.
