Summary/Abstract: 1. Tasks and objectives of higher education in the field of music art in BiH. The Academy of Music in Sarajevo is, by nature, a classical European higher education institution for music. It is dedicated to research and development of music art on the basis of the European tradition and making those values a part of the BiH culture and society in general. 2. Specific characteristics of classes at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo and the necessary system of lower education in music. Preparations for professional musical career begin at an early age (6 – 8 years of age) and a developed system of primary and secondary music schools is a necessity, as well as organized classes in music art in general education schools. Classes at the Academy of Music are organized in accordance with the tradition and experiences of European academies of music and differ significantly from classes at other faculties. 3. The notion of quality and its evaluation in the field of music art and music education. In evaluating quality and programming its improvement and assurance, it should be kept in mind that this is a field of art, and accompanying skills and sciences; thus, there is no system of exact evaluation, for everything comes down to comparison with the more and less successful. 4. Optimal organization of education at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo. It needs to be kept in mind that most classes at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo are organized on an individual basis and that the engagement of students is emotional, intellectual, cognitive and physical and that all students have their own individual programs and pace of advancement, as well as that they spend most of their time on individual practice. 5. Legal frameworks and their necessary adjustment to the specific characteristics of higher education in art and the necessary financial support. The fact is that the Sarajevo Canton Law on Higher Education gives little attention to the specific characteristics and needs of education at the Academy of Music, which significantly hinders activities at this higher education institution. 6. The Bologna process and its impact on teaching and increasing quality at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo. It has been observed in the implementation of the Bologna process that some views and provisions, which have become a part of the law, have not contributed to education at the Academy of Music, and these same views and provisions are not used in Europe either.
