Summary/Abstract: The study of homosexuals was the first sociological research in Slovenia of that kind that was so wide. At the beginning of a study we were faced with the fact, that the population we want to study is almost completely unknown to us, therefore we had difficulties preparing the methodology of research. In the article we present snow ball sampling, which was used in a research »Every day life of lesbians and gays«. In the article we present benefits and weaknesses of snowball sampling. The main weakness of the method is that the sample is not representative, but the strength of the method is that it is the best and the cheapest way, which enables us to contact hidden population. In the second part of the article we present the qualitative part of a research, with the method we tried to get the deeper insight into certain topics.
