Distance of rural communites in mazovian voivodeship from the main economic centres and their level of entrepreneurship

Summary/Abstract: The first part of the article shows the concept and nature of entrepreneurship in theory while the second presents the results of empirical research on the effects of individual municipalities distance from the major economic centers on the level of entrepreneurship in these municipalities. Empirical studies were carried out in all rural municipalities in Mazovian Voivodeship (229), and the main economic centers include the following cities: Warsaw, Radom Siedlce, Płock and Ostrołęka. It was found that municipalities located closer to the capital were characterized by higher levels of entrepreneurship than the units that were further away from Warsaw.
