Summary/Abstract: Financial institutions differ from non-financial firms. In theoretical discussions there are opinions that such differences determine remuneration policy in banks, which should be adjusted to the specificity of the banking sector. The purpose of this paper is to analyze remuneration policy in the biggest Polish public companies listed on the WSE. The achieved results partially confirm conclusions formulated on the basis of empirical investigations conducted in other countries. Polish public banks are more transparent than other companies, their top executives’ remuneration is higher and pay-per-performance relation is weaker than in other companies.
