Summary/Abstract: Self-regulation in industrial systems is an efficient tool to ensure the well-being of consumers and save limited costs of state regulation via more flexible, effective and faster engagement into business activities. Depending on a particular context, various forms of selfregulation develop, where governmental institutions often perform their role. The problematic of application of regulation and self-regulation, by presenting the variety of self-regulation forms and theoretical parameters of dilemma of regulation vs. self-regulation are analyzed in this article. It has to be emphasized that the purpose of both regulation and self-regulation is to maintain the well-being of any member of society, thus the harmony between state regulation and self-regulation is a prerequisite of successful management of complex contemporary phenomena.
