Summary/Abstract: Freelance journalists work at home, as they have different contracts with newspapers. What is specific in this relation? What does work mean? First, freelance situation involve specific relations between the journalist and the organization: as orders and controls of work are dematerialized (mails, phone calls), the question is how the individual still has the feeling to belong to a collective of work? On the other hand, this situation involves a redefinition of work at home: how is it possible to think about work in an unproductive space? How does the freelance journalist define his professional identity?
