Summary/Abstract: In this paper author goes into meaning of the international financial institutions especially IMF and IBRD. Author contemplates about history and the birth of treaty of the Bretton Woods, the role of some international financial institutions. Author evaluates some problems of these institutions, effect of globalisation, and some changes in this world. In this paper contains some views of known economists and political scientists on this subject. Author contemplates about the idea of „new“ Bretton Woods. This idea was discussed on the Italian Parliament. These discussions have proceeded since1997. Author perceives this thema as open and interest. The role of the international financial institutions is regarded as current. In these discussions look for new approaches and resolutions.
