Development of Human Rights Movement in Russia

Summary/Abstract: The author, human rights activist from 1969, gives systematic historical overview of Russian human rights movement. Defining NGO’s main aims, their part in the Soviet Union’s break-up and interaction with government machinery, he focuses on their present activities and several financial issues. Russian businessmen start to understand the necessity of offering financial support to NGOs and making their first steps in that field.
