Summary/Abstract: A social work educator and former National Association of Social Workers state chapter president provides a perspective on involvement in social advocacy based on a review of the literature, her experience in office, and efforts to involve students in the political process. Major NASW national and state initiatives are also described as they relate to enhancing the quality of social work practice and educating the public about the contribution that the social work profession makes to society.
