Summary/Abstract: The national and international adoptions are the ‘great solutions” for the physical and mental health of the abandoned or orphan child. The adoption process is managed by the child welfare and the social worker are the important facilitator and manager of the entire process. In Romania, where the child abandonment is still high, and the international adoptions are banned, the national adoptions are the solutions bringing the maximum stability for the child’s life. The child attachment quality toward the adoptive parents will support the child development, his/her mental health and happiness. The case study which we are presenting here is included in the research project:”Identifying the factors which are supporting the success in the national adoptions” (FISAN), funded by CNCSIS, for the period: 2009-2011. The evaluation is done with Friend and Family Interview (FFI), Parent Development Interview (PDI), Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and School Success Profile (SSP). The instruments bring into the light the parental functions, the family atmosphere, the child attachment development, possible behavioral dysfunctions and the school performance of the adopted child. The meeting with the adopted child and the adoptive family is done when the child is on his/her adolescence age (11-17 years) and the adoption was done before 4 years of the child. The papers are based on a case study of an adopted child and his adoptive familyi met within FISAN project, during 2009.
