Summary/Abstract: The study reviews possibilities of social capital of the firm to raise personnel performance and also success of firm’s activities in the whole. Conceptual approach of this study is based on classical works by Pierre Bourdieu, John Coleman and on works by Joseph Stiglits, devoted to the analysis of transformation processes in modern Russia. Empirical part of the research was carried out guided by a triangulation method. In this research qualitative and quantitative methods have mutually supplemented and commented each other. Thus, from November, 2003 till November, 2004 129 managers have been surveyed. 15 deep interviews have been carried out during the same period on the same problematic with managers of the same general set. Additionally, 6 interviews were conducted with Russian experts on the theme. The study has confirmed that even in con-ditions of not yet overcome Russian crisis, trust acts as an essential social capital. Firms, whose managers have been able to construct trust rela-tions with subjects of the external social environ-ment, do have a real advantage – more various and more modern management, higher personnel per-formance and higher success parameters of econo-mic achievements.
