Risks and opportunities in new media analysis

Summary/Abstract: The liaison between the mass-media and intelligence activity is a subject widely developed in the most researches, which highlighted the various roles played of the new media - from being a scene for the confrontation or propaganda of values/ ideas to representing generator of terrorism or platform for antisocial groups. Given this general context, this paper focuses on two directions: the role of new media in the field of intelligence - the manner in which Internet and social media can be manipulated for the benefit of illegal groups - and the intelligence community policies.
