Summary/Abstract: Taking care of the disabled and sick has always been a priority for the Łódź Christian Charity Society, which has been active in the field of social philanthropy since the mid-eighties of the 19th century. The article focuses on the origins, development and activity of the Shelter for the Old and Disabled which officially functioned until the outbreak of World War I, although it continued to help those in need until Łódź Christian Charity Society was ultimately dissolved in 1940.
