Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to review the facts which indicate the possibility that language could be considered as a special case of natural systems. The first part deals with the general constraints that determine the morphology of natural systems, i.e. the properties of space and the consequences that its structure has on the shape and dimensions of objects. The second part deals with general definitions and characteristics of the systems, with special emphasis on natural and living systems. The third part pertains to language and sets out the arguments in favor of perceiving the morphology of language as a special case of the morphology of natural systems. The paper presents views of different authors on language as a phenomenon, the nature of language, the laws that determine it, as well as the creation and changing of language as a system.
