Summary/Abstract: PHILOSOPHICAL SOURCES OF THE IDEA OF MUSIC IN ALEXANDER BLOK’S WORLDVIEW Summary The aim of the article is an attempt to investigate Alexander Blok’s idea of music or “the spirit of music” (which was of great importance for the poet’s understanding of world history and Russian revolution) by means of a brief description of its philosophical sources. The thesis that music – as an expression of the absolute will – is therefore a metaphysic, firstly articulated by Schopenhauer, was later developed in works and writings of Wagner and Nietzsche, authors particularly close to the Russian poet. Blok’s Diaries from the years 1917–1921 and articles The Fall of Humanism and Art and Revolution provide evidence for the significant influence of the aforementioned German thinkers. Adj. M. Bucholc
