Summary/Abstract: DOSTOYEVSKY AND THE PAINTING Summary The article is dedicated to the question of visual arts in Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s writings. The issue of analyzing various artistic phenomena by the token of their mutual inspirations, references and determinations is tackled. The article also presents the opinions and conDostojewski a malarstwo 61 clusions of the researchers, who also studied this problem in their work. The paper shows the writer as an author of theoretical dissertations on both European and Russian art. Dostoyevsky is presented as a sensitive receiver of paintings, using them to deepen the images of his characters or using in the description of figures and nature the means typical of painters (using certain hues, light or the time of the day).
