Beyond reality – the influence of magical realism on contemporary cinema

Summary/Abstract: The article’s idea is to transfer the categories of magical realism to film studies . Major theoretical literary concepts concerning this tendency are quoted , as well as contextual reflections on film realism and fantasy. The next part of the paper constitutes the presentation of three distinguished trends related to the discussed phenomenon on chosen examples. These are literary adaptations, films from the amateur cinema field and a category of pictures balancing on the line between reality and fantastic, inappropriately included into magical realism by amateurs.
