Summary/Abstract: An Innovation in Course: the English borrowing ‘bicoz’. The present study addresses the issue of a recent borrowing which has entered the French language via English. The English because is used in French with the same meaning, that of parce que. The theoretical approach behind this phenomenon is that of language contact and it explains how changes in languages occur. It is a grammatical borrowing with double function: that of preposition (only as a borrowing) and that of conjunction, which is its function in the source language.
