Summary/Abstract: Mistakes made while creating a codeframe or verbatims’ categorization almost universally lead to faulty results and inaccurate interpretations. This paper sets out to discuss the difficulties arising while coding and to suggest potential solutions by looking at findings coming from cognitive psychology. The study on Internet users’ associations with regions of Poland is used as an illustration for the discussion. This analysis is neither a comprehensive presentation of all possible dilemmas, nor a source of conclusive solutions, but it is more of a starting point for further research.
