Summary/Abstract: This essay which author is Sergey Hessen (1887–1950), a prominent Russian Neo-Kantian philoso¬pher and a theorist of education, analyzes Dostoevsky’s novel The Devils. It is an attempt to reconstruct and sum up philosophical interpretations of Stavrogin, the main hero of the novel.
