Summary/Abstract: The paper points to the need for synergistic action at the community level to develop active citizenship. The first educational strategy presented is combining education for active citizenship with family education. An original method, in the context of this strategy, is family-centered learning, which aims at linking social and civic resources of family members. The result is the empowerment of the family in the community and development of inter-family and intergenerational cooperation. It then highlights the role of schools in developing structured civic competence, according to the educational policies of the European Union. Finally, it promotes the idea of education-civic partnership that involves the synergistic action of the school, family and community through experiential strategies in line with the vision of society as a whole.
