Spirit of Islam in Reading Ahmed Mešić: A Theological Criticism of a Modern Concept of Understanding Sunnet

Summary/Abstract: The paper exposes and analyses the critiscism of the concept of Sunnet theology of Fazlur Rahman, presented primarily in two published theological analyses, and subsequently the shorter version in manuscript and on the margins of the book written by Ahmed Mešić – a Sharia judge (kadija), theologian and a spitual teacher (Sheikh) from Tuzla. The final chapter of the paper is dedicated to remarks pertaining to the visible revival of Rahman’s thinking, ie. of neo-muteselian thinking in Bosnia.
