Summary/Abstract: The reason why it is much more difficult to speak of cities than of villages does not lie in their larger dimensions, but in the complexity and heterogeneity of their space and inhabitant society. Being composed of centers and margins, any city represents a multiplicity of physical spaces and temporal layers, more or less persistent communicative relationships, communities which are permanently being formed and dissolve, as well as the urban scenes of their socializing. In this study, the author analyses one such urban scene of a worker community from Marosvásárhely (Târgu Mureş) from the socialist era, the Postarét, and the causes of its current decline.
