Summary/Abstract: The operational distance between the intelligence analyst and the decision maker must not be perceived as an irrevocable sentence, but rather adapted to content. The more significant the actionable character, the lesser the distance recommended. In an optimal relationship, the golden rule all analysts must obey is that of never substituting to the decision factors. Recommending practical solutions is the actual Rubicon that marks a trespassing in the decision makers’ territory, in the deontic area. This casts the subject out from the category of honest intelligence analysts, compromising his professional objectivity and the epistemic value of his work
