AN IMPLEMENTATION OF SELECTED STATISTICAL METHODS IN DOING RESEARCH ON ELECTORAL SYSTEMS

Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the problem of possibility of using certain statistical methods in the analysis of electoral systems. I argue that coefficient analysis is currently an indispensible part of doing research on electoral systems. First of all, the statistical methods enable analysts to explain some political and electoral phenomena more precisely. In this paper I analyse the most important coefficients that allow us to estimate the proportionality of the elections and the level of malapportionment. Besides, I present some useful features of regression and correlation analysis. In the end, the article describes some indices being used to do a survey of the party systems.
