Summary/Abstract: Medication consumption is on the rise around the world. Critical analysis reveals that the drugs are often used unnecessarily, and their effectiveness is marginal, unclear or non-existing. At the same time, more and more harm is being produced by drugs. It is because the medical science, as well as the education, clinical practice and the regulation, have been taken over by the drug producers. The profit of the company shareholders, not the treatment and prevention of disease, becomes the aim and the purpose of the healthcare systems and medicine itself. The solution of the problem is in the elimination of the private sector influence from the vital segments of medicine and healthcare.
