Summary/Abstract: The condition and functioning of the contemporary festive-ritual system among the Bulgarians with restored names are studied in the article; its role in developing the process of revival is indicated. Taking the place of ethnocultural groups, having penetrated among the regional ethnographic spheres of the Bulgarian nationality by means of forcible Islamization in the period of Ottoman domination, the forefathers of our fellow-countrymen preserved the external features of their Bulgarian folk culture and handed them on to the following generations. The common Bulgarian origin and folk culture led to a process of revival as early as the period prior to Liberation from Ottoman bondage and to the development of this folk culture at a qualitatively new stage under the conditions of the development of a socialist society. The state and functioning of the contemporary festive and ritual system in its three basic forms — socio-political, labour-professional and the ones connected with the way of life and family in a given settlement — are apparent in the feasts and rituals. The contemporary festive system serves the Bulgarians, inclusively those with restored names, in all spheres of public and private life. Irregularity in establishing certain feasts and rituals is observed, above all, with the family and kin. This is due to accumulations of a religious and way-of-life nature, as yet not overcome and these are being increasingly overcome by the cultural and educational growth and improvement in socialist social relations. In connection with the analysis of the festive-ritual system the active participation of the young generation in recreating Bulgarian folk art is to be noted. Stress is laid on the unifying role of the contemporary feasts and rituals, indicating that their establishment so far and in the future follows the road, typical of the Bulgarian nation as a whole — developing and achieving perfection in the traits common to the nation while preserving the regional festive heritage.
