Summary/Abstract: This chapter presents the need for medical monitor calibration, various aspects of changing display parameters in LCD monitors and the methodology for the calibration process. Since a human eye sees a grayscale better in the dark part of the spectrum than in the light one (the Barton curve), it is required to conduct the GSDF (Grayscale Scale Display Function) grayscale linearization according to DICOM 3.0 part 14 (DICOM – Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine). Additionally, the fundamentals of radiological monitor construction are presented and the available kinds of calibration tests as well as the methodology for conducting an audit after the test are discussed.
