Summary/Abstract: The article presents different approaches to city logistics modeling. Due to a large number of stakeholders as well as complex interactions between people, goods and related information flows, a lot of different types of city logistics models have been developed in the literature. Considering the dominant modeling techniques it is possible to select optimization, simulation and heuristic models. Despite the large number of modeling approaches, there is lack of the referential model as an easy tool enhancing communications between stakeholders and supporting the process of the best practices, solutions and standards implementations, in a similar way to the popular supply chain management of SCOR or GSCF models. In the last part of the paper the assumptions of the proposed threedimensional referential model for improving citizens quality of life has been described.
