Summary/Abstract: John Paul II – faces of a good man from the perspective of the media The presented article makes an attempt to search for different unveilings of John Paul II’s good from the perspective of the media. Good is shown through the prism of hope whereas hope as expecting good, finding the meaning and crossing the borders. Thus, good and hope are presented as values, attitudes and spiritual experience. In the first part of the article I would like to show ways of a poetic and a philosophical search for good by Karol Wojtyła. Different unveilings of good in human life which show faces of a good man are the core of the search. Presenting John Paul II as a good man, the one the media showed during his pontificate, and which could be especially seen in transmissions when he was leaving for the Father’s House fully completes the analyses. In the second part of the article I would like to have a synthetic look at how the media functioned at that time from the perspective of media philosophy. Empirical database documentation from that time serves as the basis for looking at it. Then I try to draw conclusions of a philosophical nature from the richness of media materials. Definitely a positive evaluation of the role of the media which I try to show and justify during my presentation comes out of the analysis.
