Summary/Abstract: The report attempts to describe unpremeditated offences committed by the townsmen in Tyszowce Town between 1608 and 1807. The first record of the town’s existence dates back to 1419. Tyszowce became a royal town in 1462 and also played the role of the county center. A private town since 1768, Tyszowce became part of the territory annexed by Austria after the First Partition of Poland. The Jewish population grew steadily overall from the time the first Jews settled there in 1528. The need to research Jewish offences resulted from the fact that very few studies were conducted concerning that part of life in those days. Also, it has to be noted that Jews accounted for a fair proportion of offenders in Poland. Since no Jewish sources have been preserved, the report was prepared only on the basis of the Municipal Registry Books in Tyszowce and in Grabowiec. The offenses noted in the Books were a regular part of Jewish life. Fights, beatings, injuries, false accusations and verbal insults were the most common offences tried in the Court of Law. The source material analysis showed that unpremeditated offences among those of the Jewish faith were nothing extraordinary. What’s more, 36 instances of unpremeditated offenses were noted – 6 of these were assaults, 30 of them were against property.
